Senior Research Scientist Department of Bioengineering The Grainger College of Engineering University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign The Department of Bioengineering in The Grainger College of Engineering seeks applicants for a Senior Research Scientist position in Dr. Ting Lu’s laboratory. The Senior Research Scientist conductsscientificresearch,workingeitherindependentlyorcollaboratively,asrequiredforresearchprojects, in addition to providing leadership in the management of the laboratory and preparingandsubmittingresearchreportsandpublications.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Perform high-level research in the areas of synthetic biology and metabolic engineering both independently andwithinternalandexternalcollaborators.
Leadresearchactivitieswithinthelaboratoryincludingprovidingoversightofgraduatestudentsandpostdoctoral research associates associated with related research projects.
Maintain, update, and manage laboratory records, chemical inventory, and equipment records.Order laboratorysupplies , reviewing and approving all orders for the laboratory.
Ensure regulatory safety compliance is met, permits for controlled materials are in place, biohazards and chemicalwastesaredisposedofproperly,andrelatedrecordsaremaintained.
Knowledge in microbial metabolism and gene regulation.
Demonstrated ability to effectively work in a multidisciplinary team.
APPOINTMENT INFORMATION This is a full-time academic professional position appointed on a 12-month service basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible after the closing date.Applicants may be interviewed before the closing date; however, no hiring decision will be made until after that date.The minimum starting salary is $90,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications.Employees hired into this position will be expected to work onsite on a full-time basis.
